Hemgården in Storsätern is a genuine farm with a rich history, set in a scenic location located by Övre fallet (a waterfall), with direct access to Grövelsjöfjällen (the Grövelsjö Mountains’) hiking trails, cross-country ski tracks, fishing, snowmobile trails, and local shops.
Hemgården has welcomed visitors since the 1920s and was one of the first guest properties in Storsätern and the Grövelsjö area.
We offer houses and cabins of various sizes for rent, along with what may be Dalarna’s smallest camping ground, featuring pitches for motorhomes and caravans.
Here you will find a welcoming and authentic property with modern, updated standards, with the tranquility and adventure of Grövelsjöfjällen and Gränslandet just around the corner. With us, you can fall asleep and wake to the gentle sound of Övre fallet. With vast open landscapes right outside your door, there is always something to explore — all year round.

With Hemgården in Storsätern as your starting point, there is plenty to experience and explore for those who place nature at the center of their stay. Hemgården is located in the heart of the village of Storsätern, with direct access to Övre fallet and the Grövlan river. Just a short walk away you will find the shops Fjällbua and Renbiten, offering food and ski equipment rental, and a slightly longer walk brings you to the restaurant at Storsätra Mountain Hotel.
From the property, you can connect directly to the outstanding hiking trails, cross-country ski tracks, snowmobile routes, and fishing opportunities of the Grövelsjöfjällen and Gränslandet, in both lakes and flowing waters.
Whether you are seeking peaceful relaxation or a more challenging adventure, there is something for both young and old who wish to place nature at the center of their experience.

Choose from our houses and cabins ranging from 20 to 140 square meters
Our four larger hus har moderna kök, badrum och är nyligen smakfullt renoverade både ut- och invändigt. Alla hus har kodlås, wi-fi och smart-TV.
Our three smaller houses har enklare kök med kyl, frysfack och kokplatta samt tillgång till kök med diskplats och tvättmaskin. Ett av husen (Fallstugan) har dubbelsäng. De andra två husen (Östra och Västra Ängstugan) har våningssäng med två sängplatser och en enkelsäng. Liten uteplats. WC och dusch i servicehus som finns i direkt anslutning. Husen är lämpliga för 2 personer (Fallstugan) eller 2-3 personer (Ö. och V. Ängstugan)

Gunnars hus,
140 sqm
The property’s main house, a timber building originally constructed in the late 19th century and later expanded, offers ample space for up to eight guests. Renovated both inside and out in 2025, it features a new kitchen and two new bathrooms, as well as a fireplace. The interior is finished in traditional Dalarna red.

Tullstugan
45 sqm
Tullstugan ("the Customs House") was built in the late 1800s as a customs station, with on-site accommodation for the customs supervisor. Between 1935 and 1944, it operated as a hostel under the Swedish Tourist Association. The house is suitable for 2–4 guests. It was renovated inside and out in 2025, with a new kitchen and bathroom. Fireplace. Inside, the house is decorated in a traditional “Dala blue” palette.

Juliastugan

Julia’s Cottage was built in the early 1900s. It’s named after Julia, who lived here for many years, and after the current owner’s eldest daughter. Suitable for 2–4 guests. Renovated inside and out in 2025, with a new kitchen and bathroom. Inside, the house is done in green.

Stall-längan 65 kvm
Stall-längan byggdes i slutet av 1800-talet som boning för gårdens hästar och byggdes om till bostad på 1990-talet. Detta hus är lämpligt för 2-4 personer. Sov- och allrumsdel om ca 70 kvm och bastu och badrum om ca 25 kvm. Separat sovrum med dubbelsäng. Stort allrum med eldstad, sängskåp (våningssäng för två personer, 190 cm). Ut- och invändigt renoverat under 2025, med nytt kök. Relaxdel med bastu. Eldstad. Ny stor altan (35 kvm) i västläge med utsikt över ån Grövlan.

Gunnar’s Campground
A small, family-friendly campground with spaces for caravans and motorhomes
Given our small size, we’re probably one of the smallest campgrounds in Dalarna—but our ambition is to be one of the very best for anyone who comes here for nature, fishing, snowmobiling, and the adventures in the surrounding area Grövelsjöfjällen and Gränslandet as your closest neighbor. Gunnar’s Campground is located directly adjacent to Övre fallet. That means you’ll fall asleep and wake up to the soft, low sound of a nearby waterfall. For both kids and adults, adventure is close at hand—Renbiten’s tame reindeer are just 50 meters away, and depending on the season, you might even take a refreshing dip at Övre Fallet in the Grövlan River?
